Julie A. Swanson, Ph.D., CGP
received her Bachelors of Arts in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She has been licensed as a psychologist in the state of Texas since 2010. One of her specialties is group therapy, and Dr. Swanson is a Certified Group Psychotherapist with the American Group Psychotherapy Association. Having spent over eight years working at university counseling centers and community mental health agencies as well as the past seven years working in private practice, Dr. Swanson's clinical experience includes working with emerging adults and older adults in individual counseling as well as couples therapy. Dr. Swanson has experience working with diverse populations and with populations presenting with a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, phase of life problems, adjustment difficulties, GLBTQ concerns, family of origin issues, relational problems, trauma and recovery, and grief and loss. Dr. Swanson works from an integrative interpersonal process approach that emphasizes the use of the therapeutic alliance for clients’ change and growth.
Dr. Swanson enjoys spending time with friends and family, having adventures, and finally learning to play the saxophone.
